Our History

Acadiana Waste Services, LLC (AWS) is a locally owned and operated full-service solid waste management company providing residential, commercial, and roll-off solid waste collection services. Additionally, AWS provides portable toilets and disaster services, including toilets, hand wash stations, and shower trailers.

AWS was originally created to provide the Acadiana area an alternative option to the “Big 3” national companies and from its inception has focused on providing quality service at competitive prices. AWS was founded in 2012, with its first commercial container set out at a small, local business in Lafayette, LA. Since 2012, AWS has grown to servicing over 2,500 commercial containers, over 600 roll-off containers, and over 15,600 residential homes. Our service area includes seven parishes in the Acadiana region and the Alexandria area..

The AWS ownership team has over 100 years of waste industry experience combined, with 90 of those coming from our management team that is involved in the day-to-day aspects of operations. They have been involved in the implementation and oversight of various residential contract startups and conversions, including the Lafayette City-Parish Consolidated Government contract in Lafayette, LA.

Meet Our Team

Donald "Gus" Dugas

General Manager

Donald "Gus" Dugas has over 35 years of solid waste experience, having served in several management positions with BFI/Allied Waste from 1989 through 2004, IESI from 2004 through 2008, and with Gordon's Disposal from 2009 through 2012. Gus was the General Manager for Allied's Southwest Louisiana operations, with responsibilities for hauling operations from Lake Charles to Lafayette and the surrounding areas, as well as the Jeff Davis Parish landfill in Welsh, LA. He subsequently held the position of District Manager for IESI in Alvin, TX and assisted in their South Louisiana operations. Prior to AWS, Gus was the General Manager at Gordon's, where he helped re-establish the company as the premiere locally-owned solid waste company before they were sold to a competitor.

Carolyn Lowe

Sales

Carolyn Lowe has over 35 years of solid waste experience with BFI/Allied Waste, IESI, and Gordon's Disposal. She has held several key positions during her time in the industry from Sales Representative through Operations Manager, and ultimately as General Manager for all of Allied's Southwest Louisiana operations in her time with that company. As Operations Manager, she oversaw the start up of the private collection of commercial containers at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the successful bid and start up for the collection of the Lafayette Consolidated Government's (LCG) commercial containers, and the successful bid and start up of the LCG residential solid waste contract. Carolyn was the Sales Manager for Gordon's where she oversaw rapid growth in a three-year period that led to the company being sold to a competitor.

Bradley McDonald

Operations Manager

Bradley McDonald has over 25 years of solid waste experience in various roles with both privately-held and publically traded waste service companies. He started in the industry as a driver and progressed through the ranks to Driver Trainer, Site Manager, Operations Manager, and General Manager, ultimately responsible for the entire hauling operations of his facility, including safety, compliance, operations, sales, and finance. Bradley will be key in ensuring the highest quality service is provided to our customers.
